    • Calm lagoon water + ocean beach on the other side of the sandbar.

    🚗 Parking & Access

    • Located inside Royal National Park (entry fee ~$12 per vehicle).

    • A large car park, but it fills up quickly on weekends & hot days.

    • Water dragons (big lizards) often sunbathing — they’re friendly but wild.

    🏊‍♂️ Swimming Conditions

    • Lagoon side: Safer, calmer, great for floating or kayaking.

    • Beach side: Can have strong rips; not always patrolled.

    • Water quality varies after rain — lagoon can become murky.

    ⚠️ Safety

    • Do NOT jump from the waterfall or cliffs — it’s fenced and dangerous.

    • Cliff jumping has caused serious injuries & fatalities.

    • Slippery rocks near the waterfall edge after rain.

    • Limited mobile reception in certain spots.

    • Supervise kids, especially near water.

    • Sheltered picnic huts + open picnic tables.

    • BBQ areas.

    • No drinking water — bring your own.

    • Rubbish must be taken home (carry in, carry out).

    • Walks & Lookouts

    • Popular walks starting from Wattamolla:

    • Wattamolla to Eagle Rock / Curracurrong Falls (famous “Eagle Head” rock)

    • Coastal Track sections with ocean views

    • Short walk to the official Wattamolla Falls Lookout

    • Good for photography, sunrise shots, and exploring.

    🪶 Cultural Significance

    • “Wattamolla” comes from the Dharawal Aboriginal language, meaning
      “Place near running water.”

    • The area holds cultural and historical significance to Dharawal people.

    • Sacred places, ancient pathways, and midden sites exist nearby.

    ⏱️ Best Times to Visit

    • Early morning: best for parking & quiet vibes.

    • Weekdays: less crowded.

    • Great in summer — but the lagoon gets busy.

    • After heavy rain the waterfall flows stronger.
