What to expect & general info

  • The pool is tucked deep in the bush: you’ll drive out of Woy Woy along Woy Woy Road, park near the gate for the Tunnel Fire Trail, then walk to the waterfall/pool.

  • The walk is about 5.4 km round trip (flat in many parts) but the final section is narrow, bush-track and can get slippery.

  • The “infinity pool” is actually a quite shallow man-made pool/trough under a waterfall. It looks spectacular, but it’s not deep and has some drop-offs/ledges around it.

⚠️ Safety & suitability (especially for kids)

  • Not very suited for young children: there are narrow ledges, steep drop-offs and slippery rock sections. One guide says “not suitable for little children at all.”

  • Water quality concerns: because of nearby waste management/run-off, locals advise not to submerge your head or swim after heavy rain.

  • Trail conditions: Final bush section can be muddy, narrow and has a scramble/steep rock. After rain conditions worsen.

🅿️ Parking & access

  • Parking is very limited: At the trailhead (Tunnel Fire Trail entrance) there’s space for under ~10 cars (some sources say ~6 cars). Arrive early.

  • There is no cost mentioned for parking (free car-park at trailhead) in available sources. But “space limited” is the key.

  • No major formal facilities: you should plan accordingly (water, snacks, toilets etc) before you head out.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Cultural / heritage significance

  • The area is within Brisbane Water National Park and has bushland and natural heritage value.

  • Nearby you can find Aboriginal engravings (for example the Bulgandry Aboriginal engraving site) along the trails in this region.
  • However, the pool itself appears to be man-made (the trough) and there is no clear documented cultural site at the pool itself in the sources. It’s more a natural/bush adventure spot rather than a recognized cultural monument.

🎒 What PPE / gear / wear & bring

  • Footwear: Good shoes with grip. The trail is mostly flat until the last section, but rock and narrow track sections require decent footing.

  • Clothing: Wear clothes you don’t mind getting a bit dirty. Long pants may help if leeches are present (especially after rain) and insect repellent is a good idea.

  • Swimming gear: Bring swimmers and towel if you intend to dip. But note the pool is shallow and not a large swim area.

  • Water and snacks: The walk may be short but you’ll want water and maybe snacks. Sun protection (hat, sunscreen) is good because parts of the trail and pool get sun.

  • Care: At the pool spot the ledge is narrow and the drop is steep — avoid standing too near edges, especially with children.
